Having made the special wort for the drink, we surrendered it to the mercy of countless microorganisms, that are impossible even to name; we’d really mention just a few of them: Saccharomyces, Brettanomyces, Pediococcus, and Lactobacillus. The taste of our creation is complex and it’s layered, so it reminds more of wine than beer. In order to tame that spontaneous outburst of wild flavors and aromas, the drink was pampered with Lithuanian garden cherries, which give the beer a bright red and berry-like aftertaste. We have matured the beer in oak barrels for quite a while just to let those multiple flavors harmoniously blend into a single piece of art. The true beer fans will definitely trace a similarity of our ale back to Kriek.
